Connie Melton – Jefferson Librarian – Guest Speaker

Connie Melton is the first recipient of our new guest speaker gifts. Our club adopted Jefferson Elementary School and helps with a variety of projects. Connie, working with funds raised by the Rotary Club of Pryor, ordered appropriate, already bar coded books for the school library. Each guest speaker at our club meetings will sign and date the bookplate inside the book cover which also has a list of the Rotary 4-Way Test. The book will then be presented to Jefferson School Library in their honor. This gift of literature will have a far reaching effect above and beyond what the former gift coffee mugs could do. Another favorite school support project is Rotary Readers where volunteer Rotarians sign up to read out loud to grades K – 12 at the school. Books are chosen to fit the particular curriculum of the week. The Rotary Readers have such a good time and teacher feedback has been nothing but positive. Some Rotarians go so far as to show up in costume! Stay tuned for more Rotary fun!

Ready for play!

The Rotary Club of Pryor hosted a golf tournament on Friday,  August 20, 2010. The only relief from the heat was from a southerly breeze and cold drinks. Play was fun, especially with those mulligan balls!
